Honeycomb Chalice
Light, held like a rare mineral
Six disciplined sectors converge into a low, crystalline bowl. A silent sculpture by day, an illuminated mineral after dusk.
Warm currents gather in each bowl before flowing from cell to cell.

Visual state
Atmosphere
Amber warmth pools in the centre and climbs the facets.
01 / Geometry
Measured, not asserted.
The reference geometry behind the form. Preliminary design envelopes, written so an engineer can disagree with them.
01
V1 reference: an ideal regular six-sided faceted pyramid derived from six sectors with 300 mm slant edges and 55° flat apices.
02
Each outer chord 2 × 300 × sin(27.5°) ≈ 277.05 mm → rim ≈ 554.1 mm tip-to-tip; axial depth √(300² − 277.05²) ≈ 115.1 mm.
03
The earlier Ø530 × 142 mm envelope is inconsistent with this sector geometry and is not used.
04
Modular cellular arrays: when several bowls form an array, each bowl is its own optical aperture.
02 / Fabrication
Preformed monolithic shell
Preformed, monolithic optical shell; coat after forming; concealed six-part perimeter supporting the shell at a non-illuminated flange. The structural hub and radial edges must not intrude into the visible optical cone unless accepted as intentional shadows.
03 / Three states
Dark, lit, alive.
The same object, three ways. The form must earn its place before any projector is switched on.

Dormant
A pale, faceted bowl — translucent, mineral, complete without light.

Luminous
Amber warmth pools in the centre and climbs the facets.

Living
Slow currents gather and pass from facet to facet, cell to cell.
04 / Where it belongs
Private collection · hotel lounge
Set low on a dark stone plinth where it reads as a mineral specimen by day; after dusk the bowl becomes the quiet centre of the room. Arrays can carry a corridor or a long table.

Honeycomb Chalice is an original, unbuilt concept study. Every image on this page is a visualization with CSS light treatments, not a photograph of a finished work; the geometry is a design-development starting point and nothing here is a certified production specification or a photometric claim.
