Petal Canopy
A luminous bloom overhead
Six sculptural petals unfold from a quiet centre. The intervening air is an intentional part of the artwork.
The installation gently opens in light through sequential illumination.

Visual state
Atmosphere
Warm ivory and amber from the centre outward.
01 / Geometry
Measured, not asserted.
The reference geometry behind the form. Preliminary design envelopes, written so an engineer can disagree with them.
01
Six radial petals, nominal 1,100 mm long and 550 mm maximum width each, from a six-socket hub.
02
Each petal may be an intentionally separate optical aperture (route D by design).
03
Overhead suspension requires independently engineered primary support and a separate secondary safety restraint.
02 / Fabrication
Aperture by aperture
Independent petal captures on a six-socket hub; tensioned (A) or preformed (B) per petal. Suspension, fire and electrical codes are engineering work still required; do not suspend over the public on these sizes alone.
03 / Three states
Dark, lit, alive.
The same object, three ways. The form must earn its place before any projector is switched on.

Dormant
Six pale petals open overhead, a sculpture of translucent leaves.

Luminous
Warm ivory and amber from the centre outward.

Living
Petals light in sequence; the bloom opens and breathes.
04 / Where it belongs
Reception · restaurant · wellness
Overhead in a reception or dining room, the bloom defines the space beneath it without touching the floor. Daylight reads the petals; evening opens them.

Petal Canopy is an original, unbuilt concept study. Every image on this page is a visualization with CSS light treatments, not a photograph of a finished work; the geometry is a design-development starting point and nothing here is a certified production specification or a photometric claim.
